Magamba Rainforest & Kisasa Waterfall
After breakfast, walk uphill from your hotel into Kwembago — the ancestral village of the Daffa branch of the Kilindi royal lineage — and learn how the Shambaa kingdom was once organised. Watch carefully along the path: two-horned chameleons are surprisingly common, and your guide knows where to look.
Continue into the Magamba rainforest, where the canopy is alive with colobus monkeys, sunbirds and the calls of unseen birds. Visit the German military cave, then climb to Kigulu Hakwewa peak around 1,840 metres for picnic lunch with views over Lushoto town. After lunch, descend through forest paths, stop at a traditional brewery to taste boha, and finish the day at Kisasa Waterfall before walking home.

Best time of year: June–October offers the firmest underfoot conditions for this longer route. December–February is also dry but warmer.
