Town Tour & Irente Sunset
Spend the early afternoon walking through the historical heart of Lushoto: market, Lutheran church, missionary cemeteries, post office, and the oldest police station in East Africa. From there, climb gently uphill toward the Irente cliff edge, listening to your guide explain the cultural difference between the mountain Shambaa and the Maasai of the plains a thousand metres below.
Time your arrival for the last hour before sunset, settle in with sundowners (pre-arrange drinks at Lawns Hotel bar) and watch the long shadows fall across the Mkomazi flood plain. A private vehicle returns you to your hotel after dark.
