Mkuzi Waterfall

From your hotel, take public transport (or begin walking) towards Magamba village, then leave the road for forest tracks into the heart of the rainforest. The trail follows streams and hidden valleys to the Mkuzi falls — a tumble of water into a clear, deep pool that is widely known as the only true swimming pool in the Usambaras.
Spread out the picnic blanket beside the water, listen to the falls, and — if you are brave enough for cold mountain water — go for a swim. After lunch, follow the forest trail down to Migambo village to catch the local bus back to town: a short, rattling ride among schoolchildren and market-goers that is part of the experience.
