We did two fantastic hiking tours in the Usambara Mountains with Shamba Eco Tours and can highly recommend them. 

The guides Kasim and Alex were very friendly, polite, and extremely knowledgeable, and explained many interesting things about the area, the nature and culture during the hikes. Kasim was fluent in both English and German, which made communication very easy and enjoyable. 

The hikes were beautiful and diverse, with impressive landscapes and many great views. We also had very delicious lunch / picnic, which was a perfect break during the day. 

It was also very convenient that the agency is located directly on the premises of Lawns Hotel in Lushoto, making it very easy to organize the hikes. 

Overall, we had two wonderful days, a lot of fun, and a fantastic experience. Highly recommended! Asante sana, Kasim & Alex! 

Wonderful multi-day hike in Usambara Mountains. This was seamless - a few emails and this whole adventure was set. Every detail was taken care of. We did a 3 day hike Lushoto to Mambo - added a waterfall hike the day before we started, upgraded to Mambo View Point hotel at the final night, had a vegetarian amongst us, and added on transport for our heavier packs (we only carried day backs/water). Each detail was remembered, prepared for, handled with one request. Such a professional team. Highly recommend Shamba Eco Tours to anyone looking for a great, off the beaten path adventure in Tanzania. Baraka (waterfall day hike) and Kasim and Yusufo (multi day hike) were awesome!

After a few days of Zanzibar, Lushoto was the beginning of my journey on the mainland. Arriving there by coach after a great and exciting ride, I spent two days hiking with Baraka, who quickly brought me closer to home with his calm, friendly and fun manner. For me, this was the first trip to Africa. We have met virtually no other tourists on our walks through the beautiful nature and villages. It was a dream and you feel very close to people very quickly. Especially the wonderful laughing children everywhere. 

It is not an exaggeration when I say that my love for this country has been kindled here. 

I have been here alone as a woman and can only recommend it to anyone. Baraka speaks great English and helped me organize my next bus ticket and then put me on the right bus. He can easily answer all questions and is super reliable. I had a lot of fun! Great job rafiki! 

Kasim our guide took us on a wonderful walk to Kisasa waterfall through local villages and farmland, stopping regularly en route to talk about the plants and how the local people use them for medicinal or cleaning purposes. Kasim was lovely and very easy company, answering all our questions knowledgeably and with humour, and even managed to spot two chameleons which made our day. 
 
And to top it off, Kasim also helped us HUGELY the following day with our onward travel, ensuring we got on the right bus in Mombo - we can't thank him enough for everything he did for us.
